Editorial Policy

Gizpick's editorial purpose is to make everyday technology choices easier to understand. These standards explain how to interpret our guides and the evidence behind them.

Updated October 19, 2026

Start with the situation

We frame advice around a concrete task: packing a commuting bag, sharing a home office, taking a call in a busy room, or keeping a travel setup compact. Recommendations should identify the intended reader, explain an important compromise, and include a reason someone might skip the purchase.

Research and evidence

Manufacturer documentation is the preferred source for technical specifications, compatibility, installation requirements, and safety instructions. A published specification describes the maker's stated capability; it is not an independent performance measurement.

We distinguish documented facts from editorial judgments about convenience or suitability. We do not invent ownership histories, test sessions, benchmark results, customer-review totals, numeric ratings, certifications, or current prices. Research-based articles are described as such.

Product selection and shopping checks

A useful shortlist is not a complete survey of every available product. Feature priorities vary by person and region. Readers should verify the exact model and merchant details, and compare the recommendation with equipment they already own.

Published prices and availability become stale quickly. Links to a merchant are an invitation to check current information, not a promise about a deal or stock level.

Photography

Lifestyle and stock photographs establish the context of a guide. They may show a general category of device rather than the exact model discussed. An image does not establish that we handled, tested, or measured a product. Captions and alt text should describe what the image actually depicts.

Commercial relationships

Reader-facing commercial relationships should be disclosed where they matter. Current merchant links use ordinary searches without configured affiliate tracking tags. See the Affiliate Disclosure for the current status and the standards that apply if affiliate or sponsored coverage is introduced.

Updates and corrections

Articles may be revised when a useful correction, changed specification, or compatibility issue is identified. An article's date describes its publication or revision, not an ongoing monitoring promise. Readers can prepare a correction through the Contact page, ideally with a primary source and the relevant page URL.
